Festivids Recs #1
Almost twohundred (!!!) vids to go through, so this rec list is far from being complete. Here's what I really loved so far.

First, the two gift vids that I received and which are both just wonderful. I feel so very lucky to have received two such beautiful vids. Thank you, vidder persons!

Head Full Of Doubt/Road Full of Promise (Stand By Me)
I watched this and then I teared up a little and I actually couldn't watch it again right away because it gave me all the feelings and I had to recover a little first. It's beautiful. Oh film, I love you. So much ♥

Walking On Sunshine (Miranda)
This on the other hand made me grin like an idiot. So delightful! I may have danced along sitting in my chair as well (It's totally possible.) SUCH FUN!!!

Other recs:

a message for you (Big Fish)
Fabulous use of the Pretteh that is Tim Burton's movies. I only watched the film once but now I feel I should watch it again.

Little Lie (Blackpool)
Fantastic editing, great song choice.

Love Will Win (E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial)
Possibly my favourite so far. It's just so...beautiful. Flawless editing and great song choice and seriously, it made me smile and cry, sometimes at the same time.

Hero (The Hour)
Just captures the tone of the show perfectly.

My Aviator (The Great Mouse Detective)
Most underrated Disney film of all time.

You Make Me Feel So Young (Mary Poppins)
Just utterly delightful. Seriously.

Ooh La La! (Moulin Rouge)
I figured it'd be impossible to vid this film and capture both the emotion as well as the powerful visual style of this film, but somehow this video does it. Great song choice.

To be continued...

Fanvid Rec: Sherlock
Via [profile] akima_san who twittered the link to this beautiful, beautiful Sherlock vid. I love everything about this--the tone, the editing, the voiceovers, the music...it's pretty flawless, really.

A Few Good Fanvid Recs
I've submitted three vids for [livejournal.com profile] festivids so far and a fourth is almost done. \0/ Golive is around the 20th--January 21st, I think--so I thought I'd compile a wee list of fanvids that I've enjoyed in the past few months, before fandom gets flooded with more fantastic vids.

A Girl A Boy And A Graveyard by [livejournal.com profile] obsessive24 (Covert Affairs // Spoilers through season 1)
Auggie/Annie and the cutest thing I'd seen in a while. I also love the song. I actually went ahead and bought the entire album.

Gravity by [livejournal.com profile] lsw700 (Downton Abbey // Spoilers through all seasons and the Christmas special)
Mary/Matthew. I loved the use of voiceovers. This show needs more vids.

I Want It All by [livejournal.com profile] bananainpyjamas (Friday Night Lights // spoilers for seasons 1-4)
Smash character study. Smash was never my favourite character on the show and rap isn't my favourite kind of music, but this mash-up with Queen rocks and the vid is fantastic. The choice of song is flawless, believe me.

Identical Snowflakes by [livejournal.com profile] icepixie (Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers movies)
Astaire and Gingers dancing. I love how this vid celebrates these classic movies--they get way too little love these days.

Glósóli by [livejournal.com profile] such_heights (Doctor Who // Spoilers for season 4-6)
A vid about the characters and symbolism on the show. And it's just so very pretty. It gives me aaaall the feelings. If I could marry this vid I probably would.

Okay, got that rec list out of my system. Bring it on, [livejournal.com profile] festivids.

Vid Rec: Game of Thrones
The incredibly talented [livejournal.com profile] obsessive24 has posted a Game of Thrones fanvid and it is awesome. Really, if you like the show or books or Sean Bean ( ;-) ) I encourage you to watch it. It's brilliant.

Fanvid Rec: The Eagle
Seconding [livejournal.com profile] mareen's instant fanvid rec: Mykonos (The Eagle).

The vidder has labelled this Marcus/Esca but for me personally it works on a "friendship level", too. Anyway, it's a very well put together video with perfect music choice and I think I may have to check out the band in question.

This film needs to be out on DVD now.

Birthday Glee
Finally I get the chance to thank each and every one of you who sent birthday messages and emails, gave me LJ gifts (thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] pixel_0 and [livejournal.com profile] animotus), sent me parcels (thank you so much [livejournal.com profile] roadrunner1896) and made sure I had, despite the studying, a lovely day :-)

I will try to respond to each of you individually but if I can't get around to do it, be asured that I appreciated it all. A lot :-)

And this definitely needs pimping. The lovely [livejournal.com profile] elli, being awesome and a graphics genius, made me this wonderful and pretty wallpaper of Glee!

Hop over here to tell her how brilliant she is!

Merlin Vid
[livejournal.com profile] sibylle, who apparently watches Merlin as well, linked me to this beautiful and awesomely edited music video, "Red", and I have to share it.

(If the video doesn't show, which happened to me the day before yesterday, try the Direct Link.

Fic Rec
*channels River Tam* "My turn."

[livejournal.com profile] pheebs1 is a genius. Not only has she written a wonderful BigBang fanfic about Sam freeing Dean from Hell and the consequences following that, she also managed to turn it into a truly beautiful Supernatural version of Quantum Leap.

The Leap Home (Gen, PG-13, Dean is back from hell but his soul won’t stay put. It starts leaping out of his body and into other people.) is a story that's funny and heartwarming, with Sam's and Dean's character voices spot-on and an entire set of loveable original characters.

Rec & Big Bang
If you, like me, love fanart you should check out xanseviera over at deviantart. She does Sam and Dean drawings in manga style and it's really good. She also seems to be doing her own SPN manga, from the looks of it. (Just found her site yesterday; I haven't looked at everything yet) Anyway, you should check it out, it's worth it.

I see my flist is getting all excited over BigBang, and that's pretty cool. I'm not due posting until July 11th; I haven't even started editing yet. I'm actually a bit relieved I'm among the last to post, maybe that way everyone will be still drowned in other BigBang fics and mine will kindly get overlooked. Though I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] ashlan's art will be stunning.

If I'm tempted to sign up next year, just tell me 'no'. Nothing good ever comes out of it for me ;-)

SGA Vid Rec
Found by [livejournal.com profile] tallisen. Recc'd here because it might interest some people on my flist.

A well-edited Stargate Atlantis season 3 team vid which, as many other vids, makes the show more awesome and epic than it actually is ;-)

Vid Rec: Veronica Mars
One of the fanvids I always go back to watching, even though I was never really in the Veronica Mars fandom (okay, LOVE the show but not in a "Yay! Let's get involved and read fic and hunt down vids!" sort of way), is Unsent by [livejournal.com profile] keewick.

I stumbled across this vid by accident. It's about the different relationships Veronica has and had on the show (during the first two seasons anyway), and the footage [livejournal.com profile] keewick chose along to the wonderful Alanis Morissette song give this video a very nostalgic flair. It's like looking through a yearbook after you've been out of school for a few years.

Also, I would have never thought that "Unsent" would fit for a Veronica Mars vid but it does. It carries the idea of looking back on a certain time in your life perfectly.

This may not be the best video ever created but I like it a lot.

Just sayin' :-)

I fairly seldomly feel the need to rec fanfic, but now one of those rare moments has come again.

One of my very favourite authors, [livejournal.com profile] liek_omg_, is writing again, and currently she's working on a wonderful and lovely Remus/Sirius fanfic that's just beautiful. Part 7 is up here.

Now all go and read it.

[livejournal.com profile] beldarancara I can't believe you got them 50,000 words already, it's not even middle of the month! O_O

Also...you know I very seldomly rec fanfiction but my dearest [livejournal.com profile] pipwise came up with a piece of work that she actually thought wasn't that good but which is absolutely adorable, and funny, and sad and melancholic at the same time. It was originally written for the current challenge of the [livejournal.com profile] hobbit_ficathon and is a MUST read for everyone who likes Pippin (and for those who don't ;o) )

Darnit, why can't I write stuff as wonderful as this?

It's grey, and there's a little wind. Few drops already came down. *begs sky* Rain please, rain, and then cool down, yeah will you????

I feel like recing again...I found this stunning historical AU on [livejournal.com profile] monaboyd, I wish I could write something like this: http://www.livejournal.com/users/vaguewanderlust/29103.html?view=107183#t107183

I think the heat makes me read more fanfiction rather than write it myself. Hm.

I need to finish at least one of my Goddamn WiP's.

Or tidy my room first.

Ah, the dilemmas.

[livejournal.com profile] fudgethebadger I don't know what to say. Anything I might write will never do justice. Just... I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine what it must be like.

Recing a fic...
Monaboyders, if you're into really angsty AU's and liked Dawn Of The Dead, 28 Days later or the novel "Empty World", then you should definitely read [livejournal.com profile] lord_alexander's new one shot.
