"So," my brother asks, "can you draw a Chevy Impala?"
"I can try." says I. Et voilá, only three hours later...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Unfortunately the original drawing is too big for scanning, so we had to take a photo instead which messed up proportions and colours and detail completely. The original looks ten times better.

The next time when my brother asks me that, kindly remind me to say "No." The details of the grill nearly drove me insane...

ETA: OMG I'm Ash! Yay! *laughs herself silly*

Have you ever seen Adele Sessler's fantasy art? I would give anything if I could draw like that - well, except for my soul maybe. And my guitar.

Have a feeling that no matter how hard I practise I'll never be as good as her. (I'm NOT whining! Just saying.)

Actually I'm posting this so I can use my new icon. Oh, the love! (And I didn't draw that.)

ETA: Oh my effing God!!! I actually won the photography contest over at [livejournal.com profile] capture_that!!! See my winning photos here.

*totally speechless*

Some More Drawings...
I won't go through the hassle of cropping an image and linking it to the bigger one, I'll just post the full images behind the cut - sorry :p

So here's a drawing of Merry & Pippin as requested by [livejournal.com profile] slightlytookish and an Ent for [livejournal.com profile] little_cinnamon :o)

Two Hobbits & An Ent )

I'm done with revising for today, yay! I might just spend the rest of the day drawing, or playing the guitar (for the first time in weeks inspiration for a song struck me) or writing my NaNoWriMo novel :O)

Artsy stuff - LOTR!
Last May I provided myself with a deviantART account but never used it. Today I got so fed up with photobucket not cooperating with my LJ that I decided to upload at least some drawings to deviantART instead.

So, those who requested Varda, Nienna, an amused Gandalf and Beren & Luthien, you can see the drawings here: http://pilgrin.deviantart.com/ :o) I'll try to post the rest of the drawings here, though.

I'm still not too happy with my style, it's too Disney-ish (after I spent months trying to GET to the Disney style, now I don't like it :p ) but I'm getting better on poses, proportions and hands. Yay!

Then I went all crazy and tried to get an Elfwood account - may only take an age or two til the ticket is through ^^

And, finally, a teaser ;o) It's Varda, as requested by [livejournal.com profile] miss_nightowl

B2MEM - A Bit Early But... :o) Going Home To Middle-earth.
I went home today. Meaning: my brother and I sat down and watched The Two Towers this evening. I assume there's many who regard The Two Towers as their least favourite film of the triology, but I'm tempted to say it's my favourite (but that's really hard to decide since I love the movies all so much). I think it's because it's the most "human" film of the three. And because I love Rohan. And because that was the film when I realised that Merry & Pippin actually were pretty cool characters after all.

Also The Two Towers features possibly the most heartbreaking scene of all three films. I know there's loads of those, but to me Theoden breaking down at Theodred's grave crying might be the moment that touches me most in the whole triology. To see this once proud and strong king cry so helplessly over his son's death - to me it's the most powerful, most human moment. I'm so glad PJ included it to the film.

To something not completely but still different: I'm done with all "requested" sketches and I've already made proper drawings of Varda and Nienna. I hope I get to do the rest over the weekend as well.

Go with the good will of all good men. Night night.

Completely random but...
...only 300 more days til FilkCon 2006! *sigh*

So apparently you can't decide on what should be my new username either. Meaning I'll probably will have to wait til I come across teh-ultimate-nick-that's-not-yet-taken ... ;O)

Even more random but does anyone know a website/archive where I can find good reference photos for human proportions/poses? (Poses would be better). I wanna draw something for [livejournal.com profile] ansothehobbit but I can't find a good picture I might use as reference.

Sent [livejournal.com profile] lisande the finished first 10 chapters of my NaNoWriMo novel today because she asked for it. *trembles & awaits verdict* And we wrote another silly filk. Seriously, it appears everytime we decide to write song together it ends up being completely silly and pointless :O)

Art Post...
I'm putting this one up again because [livejournal.com profile] glorfinniel thought I should...

This drawing was/is a study. I took a Billy & Dom pic (or actually THE Billy & Dom picture) to practise poses, proportions, shading etc. with no intention getting their features accurate. When I was finished I found out I had gotten scaringly close to the original again...I think especially Dom almost looks like his real self ;o) So, basically... an almost-Monaboyd drawing here...

This piece I did yesterday. It's a study for Teh-Scene-That-Should-Be-In-The-Book and I'll make it a bigger, decent drawing some day... :o) A Cormallen drawing! (And yeah, it's a photo not a scan so proportions/perspective are/is a tad off)

Hope you like :o)

...AND SPEAKING OF FANART...
..."are you going to bury me?" - the 2378th attempt.

I just can't find any reference photos, so all I do here is guesswork regarding the poses. Merry's arms still look awkward. Duh. (And yes they DON'T look like the movie characters I know :o) )

One of these days I'm going to get it right. Watch me.

fanARTic...
I don't know about you but I'm absolutely in love with fanart. And I'm not talking about Digital Art/Blends/Wallpaper here (though making them is lots of fun and not as easy as it looks, so my respect to all you photoshop'ers out there) but about hand-drawn/painted traditional art. Over the past two years or so I've come across the works some of the most talented artists I've ever seen, each with their own unique style, and which definitely deserve a little pimping.

So this is what I'm going to do. I will make a list here of my favourite fanartists, both LOTR and Harry Potter fandom, and this list shall be updated whenever I find a new artist that I think is worth rec-ing. Good plan? Also, feel free to point me in someone's direction if you think I've forgotten an artist :o)
