WTF???????????

From here ... and please tell me they're kidding. It's a troll, right? RIGHT?

By Mystech: Yeah yeah and he and his friends run around calling people "Mud bloods" which, if I recall correctly, is very close to a slur actually used by American white supremacists.

Does Harry Potter express raciest views? Of course. Should J.K. Rowling be frowned upon for this? I don't think so. She's British, she just can't help it. . . its bred into them. She probably doesn't even know she's doing it, and it's not as if she's actually making any derogatory statements against any actual race, so really in the end who cares?

By android: There's nothing wrong, illegal, or unscientific about racial awareness and preferring your own kind. Bigotry I'm not so fond of, but only undermen equate the two.

by SCrow:Well, to go back to the original point about Harry Potter being a racist, the book certainly has some elements that could definatly be interpreted as Nazi related symbols. For example, Snape's initials are S.S. which relates to the Schutzstaffel from the holocaust. Another S.S. related point is Harry's scar, which looks alot like the tag in which the S.S. had on their uniform. I also agree with the original point of this arguement, that being the connection between the half-blood and pure-blood to Naziism. I agree it is just a book but there alot more to the book then justthe story.

And THEN they go round drawing comparisons to "Mein Kampf" by Hitler and act all smart-arsey...WTF???

And besides? Don't talk about stuff you don't have a clue about just because you've seen Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List you morons.

I almost feel offended by that rubbish. I live in the country that was ruled by Nazis and caused millions of deaths. Comparing Harry Potter to Mein Kampf is like a slap into my face.

Uh-huh. That HP fandom scares me... :o)

There`s so much Wank in this fandom...

I`m just laughing about this nazi stuff. I`m aware of our past but well it`s not like I`m the quilyt one or like Hitler was the only one thinking like that. It`s just that everybody knows about him and what he did.

Maybe I should read this wank before talking about it *g*

Nah what pisses me off that they pretend to be all super educated but they're not. People claiming they totally know about US politics because they've read one Michael MOore book piss me off juat as much.

Hmmm yes this is almost as good as Harmionian wank...

Hmm...this is why I'll continue to cling to LOTR fandom, no matter how much I love HP. The drama, I just can't take too much of it.

Is it possible, though, that these people are reacting to this article? (http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=862542004) I have only one HP-exclusive person on my f-list and she posted a link to this about a month or go. I read it and went right back to my hobbits, but perhaps others wanted to discuss it.

Which one ... you know there where thoooooooooounsands *rofl* Crazy Harmionians ...

Ahh I hate these weird shipnames ...

Beste Quote so far:
They left out the biggest Nazi conspiracy of the whole series - R/Hr

And I`m totaly picturing Snape in a SS uniform because he`s so nazi :O And all the Slytherins are his Nazi!Minions.

Could be ... *ponders*

Thing is, I really love Harry POtter, I'm a huge fan. But I don't go to forums or websites and prefer to discuss the books and films with my friends who I know are just as "sane" as I am... :o) I write fanfiction, though... every now and then :o)

But yeah, I think there is definitely less wank in the LOTR fandom. Maybe because the people are older and there is no such character as Hermionethat all 13 year old girls can identify with and go all upset when the hero chooses Ginny over her :o)

I know *headdesk* And isn't it just funny how these obsessive Hr/H shippers try to read their ship into every book though it's been so clear from book 1 on that RON AND HERMIONE WILL END UP TOGETHER???

I mean, it's okay if you ship Hr/h ... to each their own. But to actually try to prove something in canon that is obviously so NOT canon and then feel betrayed by the AUTHOR? HUH?

My favourite sentence so far must be:
She's British, she just can't help it. . . its bred into them.

O_O

Oh and yes... Harry's S-sharped scar and Snape's initials probably mean they're like...father and son. Or something.

Same here. Actually I don't consider myself a part of the HP fandom because I'm always so afraid of spoilers that I don't read alot about HP / visit many websites. And so I'm always a few steps behind most other fans *grin*

And from the little I have ventured into the HP fandom, I was just frightened out of my mind by the ship wars. Eeeek. I have my preferences too, but. Not like that :D

Hey! Goblet of Fire is coming out next month, eeee!!

[identity profile] legoline.livejournal.com 2005-11-01 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
No! THIS month! In 14 days I'll go to see the midnight preview *lol*

Well I write this long fanfiction, and I've written shorter ones but nope, not an actual part of that fandom either. Even though I'm mad about both books and movies (I own a Gryffindor scarf and tie! :o) ), this fandom is just way too creepy for, especially those silly ship-wars. I thinkthem fans take themselves way too serious... ^^ Someone should tell them fandom is supposed to be FUN...

OMG Thats how the Lilly/Snape Shippers will prove that Harry is Snapes Son!!

And isn't it just funny how these obsessive Hr/H shippers try to read their ship into every book though it's been so clear from book 1 on that RON AND HERMIONE WILL END UP TOGETHER???

I Know! I mean I ship Draco/Harry (sometimes) and I can read alot into the books, but it was clear that there would be Ron/Hr and Harry/someonefemal *lol*
And why are the Hr/H shippers the only ones complaining. That was the last ship I ever expected. That would be too much like incest.

But to actually try to prove something in canon that is obviously so NOT canon and then feel betrayed by the AUTHOR? HUH?

YES! Argh thats so stupid. And how can they say the book is bad written just because the pairings suck? But what am I talking about. I heard people say that an episode of Lost sucked because of the lack of Sawyer. The fuck? O.o It´s about the story and not aobut the ships and good-looking persons.

And gosh. They have fanfiction. My Pairings will only exist in this alternate world. Who cares as long as I get my Porn fiction.

Heehee, you're right! I still thought it was October, lol. I forgot to change my calendar, oops. *is a ditz*

Oh, and what you said above...Oh and yes... Harry's S-sharped scar and Snape's initials probably mean they're like...father and son. Or something.

You know, my friend and I have been saying that for a long time. In jest of course, and just because JKR (and the movie's screenwriters) like to hit us over the head with how much Harry looks like his dad and how he has "his mother's eyes." Both my friend and I have watched enough trashy soap operas in our lives to wish for a paternity issue, lol. :)

Totally. They're ike brother and sister. Just... eeeew.

Yes AMEN to that. I mean I write this huge complicated angsty HP ff that's completely ship-free (except for R/H because they're just MEANT to be together and it's canon), and all one girl had to say about it was "Are Sirius & Remus together?" ... I mean... I didn't even HINT at that. *headdesk*

Though the C/C shippers sometimes scare me just as much. Too many little fangirls with too much hormones. Actually Claire and Hermione aren't that different anyway. Duh.

And gosh. They have fanfiction.

Yes! The Attack-Of-Teh-Hermione-Mary-Sue!

Actually, all you need to watch is Star Wars to come up with the idea... and it's not like that idea didn't ever slip to my mind as well :o)

Violence isn't always a bad thing! It can relieve stress AND clean up the gene pool all in one go!

[identity profile] aliphaunt.livejournal.com 2005-11-01 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, for goodness's sake - yes, the phrase Mudblood is racist, but that's the point - the whole point is Voldemort and all evil witches and wizards are obsessed with 'pure' blooded people, and Harry, and through him JK are saying how wrong that is...
And the fact Harry's scar is meant to be a symbol of the SS is absolute bullsh*t (scuse my French) - the lightning shaped scar is very common in novels - it may be unoriginal, but it's certainly not a symbol of Nazi sympathy.

Yes! I say we vote for violence... and if it clears up the gene pool there'll be none of those fans anymore, and we shall breed our own blond-haired generation of HP fans MWUAHAHAH ...look, I think those rassist books already have an inflence on me and I'm not even British...

Oh, racism isn't solely a British thing, we just specialise in it (apparently). Perhaps you've been spending too long around British people. There are too many British people on your flist! It's rubbing off on you, clearly.

[identity profile] aliphaunt.livejournal.com 2005-11-01 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... I guess the same could be said about any other fans, but then look at the number of Katie Leung hate sites!

She's British, she just can't help it. . . its bred into them.

How dare they say something like that about the British??

If anything, we're the complete opposite, being ridiculously over the top when it comes to political correctness. Gah!!
