WTF???????????
From here ... and please tell me they're kidding. It's a troll, right? RIGHT?
By Mystech: Yeah yeah and he and his friends run around calling people "Mud bloods" which, if I recall correctly, is very close to a slur actually used by American white supremacists.
Does Harry Potter express raciest views? Of course. Should J.K. Rowling be frowned upon for this? I don't think so. She's British, she just can't help it. . . its bred into them. She probably doesn't even know she's doing it, and it's not as if she's actually making any derogatory statements against any actual race, so really in the end who cares?
By android: There's nothing wrong, illegal, or unscientific about racial awareness and preferring your own kind. Bigotry I'm not so fond of, but only undermen equate the two.
by SCrow:Well, to go back to the original point about Harry Potter being a racist, the book certainly has some elements that could definatly be interpreted as Nazi related symbols. For example, Snape's initials are S.S. which relates to the Schutzstaffel from the holocaust. Another S.S. related point is Harry's scar, which looks alot like the tag in which the S.S. had on their uniform. I also agree with the original point of this arguement, that being the connection between the half-blood and pure-blood to Naziism. I agree it is just a book but there alot more to the book then justthe story.
And THEN they go round drawing comparisons to "Mein Kampf" by Hitler and act all smart-arsey...WTF???
And besides? Don't talk about stuff you don't have a clue about just because you've seen Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List you morons.
I almost feel offended by that rubbish. I live in the country that was ruled by Nazis and caused millions of deaths. Comparing Harry Potter to Mein Kampf is like a slap into my face.

Is it possible, though, that these people are reacting to this article? (http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=862542004) I have only one HP-exclusive person on my f-list and she posted a link to this about a month or go. I read it and went right back to my hobbits, but perhaps others wanted to discuss it.

Thing is, I really love Harry POtter, I'm a huge fan. But I don't go to forums or websites and prefer to discuss the books and films with my friends who I know are just as "sane" as I am... :o) I write fanfiction, though... every now and then :o)
But yeah, I think there is definitely less wank in the LOTR fandom. Maybe because the people are older and there is no such character as Hermionethat all 13 year old girls can identify with and go all upset when the hero chooses Ginny over her :o)

And from the little I have ventured into the HP fandom, I was just frightened out of my mind by the ship wars. Eeeek. I have my preferences too, but. Not like that :D
Hey! Goblet of Fire is coming out next month, eeee!!

Well I write this long fanfiction, and I've written shorter ones but nope, not an actual part of that fandom either. Even though I'm mad about both books and movies (I own a Gryffindor scarf and tie! :o) ), this fandom is just way too creepy for, especially those silly ship-wars. I thinkthem fans take themselves way too serious... ^^ Someone should tell them fandom is supposed to be FUN...

Oh, and what you said above...Oh and yes... Harry's S-sharped scar and Snape's initials probably mean they're like...father and son. Or something.
You know, my friend and I have been saying that for a long time. In jest of course, and just because JKR (and the movie's screenwriters) like to hit us over the head with how much Harry looks like his dad and how he has "his mother's eyes." Both my friend and I have watched enough trashy soap operas in our lives to wish for a paternity issue, lol. :)

Actually, all you need to watch is Star Wars to come up with the idea... and it's not like that idea didn't ever slip to my mind as well :o)
