I think it was delibarete since Robert Vogelm the German reporter, visits their set all the time and in one of his reports he talked about how he introduced Peter DeLuise, the director, to Orion. He brought the DVDs I think.

OMG! That's - wow. Because it DID seem a bit weird to me that of all possible names he chose Orion after he'd just dismissed Enterprise but it never occured to me they could actually knew the show. Wow, so cool. (Is that the point where I should admit I used to watch Orion and that my father's a huge fan and we got him the book just for Cristmas and I actually squeed when he called it Orion?)

But in general the show is very good with continuity and little shout outs to past episodes.

What surprised me is that they already discover the gate in Antartica halfway through season one and I didn't expect that. So the Spin-Off wasn't at all like "Let's find a new Stargate and instantly do a Spin Off" which I think is pretty awesome.
