Duh!
I'm reading The Neverending Story right now (remember the film? 80's classic?), which is a German children's book ... sorta :o) It takes place in a magical world called 'Phantasien' (Phantasia in English maybe? ) and it's starting to get scary now... cause there is this chapter called 'The Mirkwood of Perelin' (does anyone else think Perelin sounds pretty Peregrin-ish? ). Well, funny coincidence I thought. Read on and stumbled across a dangerous dragon (the only dragon left in Phantasien) called Smärg. Is it me or does it sound like Smaug? And ... they're going to the land of cold flames called ---- MORGUL!!!! GWAH! That's no coincidence anymore, is it?

Still, Ende definitely didn't copy Tolkien... and I love The Neverending Story, it's such a great & wonderful book ... it's just I really find these name-similarities terrible funny ;o)

I remember reading Never Ending Story when I was in High school. I loved that book and I watched the movie a heap of times as well!
