I'm so tired and exhausted of work that the only thing I am able to get my mind on now is silly stupid fandom brabbeling ... *lol* Jeez, I guess you can wake me in the middle of the night and I'll start at once telling you all about my current obsessions ... *shrugs*
I've just seen the trailer for one of Dom's new movies... ANOTHER indie production... I don't think it'll ever come to the theatres here, on DVD at most, if I'm very lucky *ponders* ... it's called "The Purifiers" and well ... if anybody should care for it, here's the link for the trailer (Quicktime) ... http://www.thepurifiers.com/Images/ThePurifiers.mov
It certainly looks interesting and exciting... though my first thought was "Has someone been watching The Matrix a wee bit too often?" :o). I did not get much of the plot, though; it just seemed to be very futuristic and about gangs... or at least so I think. If anybody would like to fill me in I'd be most glad! *lol*
I've been thinking about Dom's, Billy's and Orlando's fame lately. I know that a lot of Billy and Dom fans are upset about Orlando being so succesful while hardly anyone notices (or cares for) the talent and charism of the other two. It might seem unfair (and I guess it is, cause Dom and Billy are just gorgeous with an enormous amount of individuality and personality) but in the end I think it's a good thing. Really. I mean look at Orlando - yes he does get the roles in big blockbusters like POTC or Troy - but then again, his parts are very boring. Will Turner (the character!) is boring, just so -stereotypic. Paris is boring. Even Legolas did get all the crappy lines. I'm sure Kingdom of Heaven won't be much better. Since he is so handsome, I think Orlando's mostly offered roles because of his looks. He hardly ever gets a chance of proving his acting skill (exceptions might be Haven or Calcium Kid but haven't seen them yet). If he keeps on doing these films, he will never be noticed for good acting, he will always be connected with his looks like "Orlando Bloom - the pretty one." you know? And I guess it's rather annoying if you can't go anywhere without a crowd of 12 year old screaming girls following you.
Whereas Dom and Billy ... yes, they only (or mostly) do independent stuff. But isn't that a good thing? Compared to Troy or POTC, they surely get the more interesting roles. II suppose they both are offered a greater variety of different roles you know? They won't always be casted whenever a handsome guy is needed for the plot. They have more chances to prove they CAN act. They won't be making a fortune, that is for sure. But if I were themn, I'd be happy to be able to do films, interesting films, no matter how much money I'll earn with them. And I'd be happy not to cause a hysteria wherever I appear. I guess Dom and Billy still can live a relatively normal life, wheras Orlando can not. So I wouldn't complain. Actually, I'm happy with the way it is... only that I'd like to SEE the films over here ... *lol* Get my point?
As you can see, totally random senseless pondering... you don't need to comment. I know I bored you *lol*
