Haha, yes! A perfect solution. Your daily dose of squee will be freshly delivered at that point. :D

Polar bear!

Now THAT's a way to my heart. *bg*

Polar bears are awesome. I love that icon of yours. *wants to rub his belly, but still needs arm*

[identity profile] pixel-0.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Polar bears are great! I've decided that if my career plans don't work out, I'll just move up north and save the bears. Hee. Yes, if you rubbed his belly, his reaction would probably look something like my icon. *points* ;D

OMG, can I come visit if you do? My heart lives in Canada.

Yeah, I know they are very dangerous and agressive.

I like how people leave their cars unlocked so they can get into them for protection if a polar bear comes by.

[identity profile] pixel-0.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
Sure! The more the merrier! :D (I know the World Wildlife Federation actually has trips you can take up into Canada to go on "bear watches" and what not, but they're ridiculously expensive. :P)

Oh yeah. Which, I get because they're bears, but the irrational part of me kind of wishes they were more soft and cuddly.

Man, that's probably a good idea. Although, I wonder if a car can stop a polar bear, y'know? Just because the bears can be so big. I wonder if they could break through the glass at all. :/

I have recently read Beauty Tips from Moose Jaw: Excursions in the Great Weird North and one of the chapters is about such a tour. They remodeled school busses to make tour busses out of them and have people sleep in those. Doesn't sound like my kind of fun, as much as I like polar bears. Especially since they don't garantee that you will see one.

Oh yeah. Which, I get because they're bears, but the irrational part of me kind of wishes they were more soft and cuddly.

Exactly!

Although, I wonder if a car can stop a polar bear, y'know?

Not sure about the glass, but the metal on the cars (it is more like small trucks up there and they don't have these tiny Japanese cars anyway) probably holds up and the bear can't reach in the middle of the car? Or they lose interest when they can't smell you properly anymore? I read it is supposed to help. Of course not me, cause I only have a scooter. ;)

[identity profile] pixel-0.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, that might be one of those tours--I'm sure they have more than one, though. Yeah, the horrible part would be paying all that money and then not even seeing the bears. We have a pretty nice zoo with a special Arctic exhibit here, but it's not the same, I guess, as seeing them in the wild. At the same point, at least you know you'll see them. :/

Hm. I'm honestly not sure about the best way to protect yourself if a bear comes after you. I'd still go for my car, even if they could break through, as, hey, I've got a heck of lot better chance of surviving inside my car than out. Hee, yeah, I think you might be in trouble on a scooter versus a polar bear. Yikes.

They are building a new area at the zoo Hanover called Yukon Bay. It is supposed to be finished next year and I can't wait. Polar bears, wolves, caribou, snow rabbits and for some weird reason penguins and other animals who like it cold. I can't wait until that is finished and I can take some pictures. :D

But yeah, it is not the same as seeing them in the wild, but it is much less dangerous and I like that the animals aren't in cages anymore, like they used to be, but that they can walk around on those big (still not big enough, but I guess one has to make compromises) enclosures.

Well, I guess my scooter wouldn't even get me that far up north, though. Hard to ride it on snow and ice.

More like an expedition, really :D

Can I bring sledge dogs?

[identity profile] pixel-0.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, that's a better way to put it.

Hey, why not? *g* (And actually, it's quite plausible for a massive trip. Start at my house, travel up through Michigan and into Canada and onward to the polar bears! Okay, yeah, I'm getting delusional now. Haha)

Well, I wanted to make sure it fit what you wanted. *squishes you back* :D
