Lucas put too much emphasis on the looks of things and the CGI in the new trilogy instead of the characters.
Sadly that's true. He was probably toying around with CGI because that's what he would like to have had in the first trilogy.
I sympathized very heavily with Anakin because you just knew what was going to happen to him. And he was a good person, he just made a couple of very bad decisions.
That's exactly it. And all through the film you sort of hope that Anakin will not make the mistakes but of course you know he will. It almost hurts to watch it.
But it sounds interesting, going backwards. *g* Shouldn`t be too much of a hindrance though since SG:A storywise is very much separated from SG1.
Unless of course you have no idea what exactly the Stargate is, what it does, where it is and what the heck Ancients are. Or ZPMs. The first 20 minutes I thought I would NEVER get into it. I was basically all WHAT WHAT HUH? Also when we watched the pilot my brother exclaimed "Oh O'Neill! Daniel! How cool!" wheras I just frowned and asked myself who the heck he was talking about. Looking back I think it was very neatly done the way they introduced Sheppard.
4 seasons and a miniseries to bring it to closure. Just don`t get discouraged if you find it too weird at first. Was my first impression too but then I gave it another chance and loved it.

I'll put it on my To-Watch-List :-)
