You know I can't resist movie memes...
Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] mariloli.

Post your Top 10 favourite movies of all time and list why, then tag five others to do the same. Listed in no particular order:

1. Billy Elliot
I can't even begin to express how much I love this film. I love the music, the actors (Julie Walters, yeah! And Gary Lewis and Jamie Bell of course), the camera work, the script - everything about it. Seriously. I wouldn't know where to begin :o)

2. Little Lord Fauntleroy
The version with Ricky Schroeder and Alec Guinness please. And why? Because it's the loveliest, sweetest cheesiest christmas film ever. Alec Guinness' acting is just brilliant. And the music - aaaw! Should really only be watched during christmas time, though :o) (And if you think the film is cheesy, don't read the book the film's based on.)

3. Dirty Dancing
Okay, so which girl doesn't secretly love that film?

4. Back To The Future I - III
I grew up with that triology, basically, and I love it more with every time I watch it. It's just a great fun movie to watch and it stars Michael J. Fox who I've worshipped ever since I was eight years old or so. Basically BECAUSE of that triology. It's so funny and exciting, and the last couple of minutes still have me sitting on the edge of my bed yelling at Marty to hurry up every single time :o)

5. Finding Neverland
There's no film that makes me cry as much. So beautiful. So sad. So funny. So heart-warming. And the boy who plays Peter, his acting is outstanding. (Also Kate Winslet is in it who I worship as well :p )

6. TITANIC
No, not for Leo DiCaprio. It's just great film with lots of emotions, great effects, costumes, script... and I feel sorry for those people who still think it's a film about romance and love and the relationship between Rose and Jack.

7. Lord Of The Rings I - III
Kind of obvious, right? And do I really, really need to give reasons why?

8. Moulin Rouge
Of course the plot is hopelessly cheesy and the oldest thing in the world. But the way the film's done, and the way the songs were arranged completely differently - love it.

9. An American Tail
Love it so much because it's done in that old fashioned Disney style. And even though I'm quite faithful to Disney, this is probably the Disney-ishest film ever only not made by Disney :o)

10. Master & Comander - The Far Side Of The World
When I first watched it I didn't expect too much. Battles on the sea, how good COULD it get? I expected battles, sweating men, heroes and lots of blood. I did get the lots of blood. And a film that even though set on a man-of-war features only two battles and mainly lives from its deep characterisation of the two main characters. Three if you count the sea men as another character. The camera work is brilliant, and the film possibly the best insight in what life was like on the sea in the 18th century ever.

Films that didn't make it but should belong there: Lion King, Far & Away, Star Wars (4-6), Indiana Jones, Brassed Off, Rocky Horror Picture Show, ...

Tagging: Everyone who feels like it.
