"decent with bright spots ina tailspin".
And SPN after season 2 is average with decent spots in a tailspin. Hence me prefering Buffy and actually rewatching it and still enjoying it and having watched all of it at least once.
I haven't watched an entire season of SPN since season 3 and I doubt I'll ever catch up on that because it just doesn't interst me enough and annoys me too much. While Buffy had some equally bad eps, at least the arc kept me watching and it never felt as so many really bad eps. At least not in a row.
For me, SPN didn't have an interesting arc since season 2 and what they are selling for season arcs these days certainly doesn't keep me interested enough to overlook the way they wrote Sam and Dean into the ground. I used to like them more than most Buffy charas, but after season 3 and what I saw of season 4 (about half to three quarters of the eps), I dislike them more than almost all Buffy characters and since they are the main characters and there isn't really much to even that out, I really hate watching these days and have only watched a handful of eps since.
Not saying Buffy is the best show ever, but I like it much better than SPN and I will stay interested in the careers of most of the people I liked back in my Buffy fandom days. Unlike definitely Jared's and probably even Jensen's post SPN career. Depending on whether or not Jensen manages to move on from his type casting box and actually do something with his talent.
His hands are so lovely! *licks them*
