1. Pretty much all new scenes with Frodo and Sam. I always thought that their journey to Mordor was portrayed as 'quite an easy job to do', not as horrile and straining as described in the book. Honestly, when reading it I have to force myself through the parts because they're just so damn intense, and it never got like that in the theatrical version. Thankfully PJ's now made a bit up for it, so thumbs up for the additional Frodo & Sam scenes! Especially the 'Look Mr Frodo there's light and beauty up there!' one... *sob*
2. Merry's additional lines to Aragorn after Gandalf's and Pip's leaving...I always felt that it was not complete as shown in the theatres, and seems that I was right. I liked that small bit because it put even more depth into the hobbitses' friendship. Oh and yes not to forget Eowyn's and Merry's little conversation...*sniffle*
3. Merry (yes ANOTHER one) offering his sword to Theoden. How long have I been waiting for this? Since TTT I believe. So thanks PJ for finally adding it...
4. Eowyn telling Aragorn about her dream in Edoras...really liked that scene. And Aragorn's additional line 'I wished you joy from the moment I saw you' when preparing to leave for the Dimholdt...loved it.
5. Eomer finding Eowyn on the battlefield...INTENSE! ...
6. The Mouth Of Sauron! Creepy!
7. The Death Of Saruman...this scene is absolutely brilliant...though as someone pointed out, Legolas shooting Grima must be the most senseless bit in the whole triology.
8. Pippin refusing to admit Merry's death...damn! It's like one of these things I usually come up with :o) I love that little fellow...
9. Faramir's and Pippin's conversation. Simply because both are so IN character there...
10. Faramir telling Denethor about the ring and Denethor's madness. Awesome.
Can't think of more now...there were some minor bits I liked but also a great deal of scenes I imagined to be more powerful...*shrug*
And while I'm at the random LOTR brabbeling...the LOTR special was on TV again today. And during that they also showed the old TTT trailer ...

I watched 'Designing Middle-earth' from the ROTK EE today. I want to be able to draw like Alan Lee and John Howe. Oh and Billy is cute as heck.
My father finally got around to watch ROTK (but the theatrical version) with Conny. His comment: I thought the special effects were even worse than in the second part, and it was just as I expected: more battles and the ring being destroyed at the end... My comment: You still haven't realised that triology actually isn't about special effects, battles and a golden ring, right? to which he replied What is it about then?
And that from the man who didn't even get the moral of Finding Nemo. I see dark times ahead. *shakes head*
